Job description

As a Pharmacist at Costco, you perform direct patient care, dispense prescription medications, and educate patients. You practice to the fullest extent of the expanded scope of pharmacy practice permitted by provincial regulations.

You check prescriptions and over-the-counter medications for therapeutic appropriateness, verify and refill prescriptions with physicians, and collaborate with health care professionals to resolve drug therapy problems. Your role ensures patients receive accurate information, maintain confidentiality, and receive prompt and courteous care.

About the role: Pharmacist

In this position, you dispense prescription medications, apply appropriate auxiliary labels, and verify prescriptions for drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, dose, frequency, and dosage form. You select therapeutic substitutions when appropriate and oversee patient medical history to maintain a confidential computer record.

You also collaborate with other health care professionals, educate patients on proper medication usage, and provide prompt patient care. You recruit patients for and conduct health and wellness clinics, adapt prescriptions under delegation, administer injections where permitted, and conduct full medication reviews including medication reconciliation.
