Overview

Geriatric Psychiatry: This program assesses and treats mental illnesses in adults over 65. It focuses on improving quality of life and recovery for older adults dealing with conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, Alzheimeru2019s disease, and other dementias. Care is provided in collaboration with families, primary care providers, and community agencies.

Qualifications

• Personal Support Worker certification with 1 year documented experience in long-term care including psychiatric and mental health care, or RPN student with a minimum successful completion of year one, or RN student with a minimum successful completion of year two.
• CPR certification or re-certification within the last 12 months.
• Current knowledge of and training in mechanical lifts, transferring and positioning techniques for residents.
• English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading and writing. French level A- is mandatory in oral expression and oral comprehension.
