The Opportunity

Payroll Specialist

You will be responsible for coordinating, preparing and processing payroll, and administering various benefits programs in accordance with established company practices and procedures, and employment standards, posting related journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting with the human touch that Jade is known for.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Work with WagePoint, Knit, ADP, Ceridian, DayForce etc.
  • Ensure payroll processing is conducted on time and with a high level of accuracy: Input, calculate, verify and enter all relevant payroll transactions which include: new hires, terminations, issue ROEs and all payroll changes to produce accurate payrolls for weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly clients while meeting regulatory compliance
  • Reconciling monthly, quarterly and annual government remittances
  • WSIB/WCB, EHT and RRSP remittances
  • Partner with team bookkeepers and controllers to ensure that all journal entries and reconciliation are completed timely and accurately, with allocations by departments where required
  • Responsible for all year-end balancing and tax reporting processes for year-end readiness, including T4, T4A, RL-1, T5008, EHT, WSIB/WCB Annual returns etc.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies, if any
  • Continuous learning through National Payroll Institute and other resources (annual legislative updates, seminars, etc.)
  • Updating and maintaining payroll procedures, guides and other documents
  • Experience with Quebec payroll and related employment standards/legislation is considered an asset.
  • Participate in team meetings (Tuesday & Thursday)
  • Bring creativity to the role—maybe even contribute to visibility and social media initiatives

  • Salary: $55,000–$65,000/year, commensurate with experience
  • Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week
  • Location: Remote work; Must operate during EST hours
  • Target start: ASAP
