Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist is a member of the People and Culture Shared Services team and is responsible for ensuring the accurate processing and recording of the company\'s payroll. This role provides timely and accurate financial information and supports internal customers in all aspects of payroll. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing company with growth opportunities.

What you will be doing
  • Process full-cycle salary and hourly payroll for multiple entities, including producing Journal Entries.
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely, in compliance with labor regulations.
  • Review and ensure timely reporting of all payroll withholding tax and tax payments to appropriate provincial and federal agencies.
  • File and make payments for EHT, WCB, and WSIB in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all payroll reports and backup documents.
  • Process payroll reconciliations, vacation accruals, and journal entries on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.
  • Process new hire information and data changes in the payroll system, ensuring that payroll data is up to date and accurate.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from internal customers in a timely manner.
  • Process payroll year-end reporting, including T4s and T4As.
  • Implement ADP Workforce Now for newly acquired companies with internal / external implementation teams.
  • Perform other HR / Payroll Shared Services related duties as required.
You have
  • 10+ years of experience processing Canadian payroll (multiple provinces) in a fast-paced environment.
  • PCP certification. PLP (formerly CPM) certification is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and provincial regulations and the Employment Standards Act.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 programs.
  • Working knowledge of multiple payroll systems. (Experience with ADP WNF is preferred but not mandatory).
  • Experience with process improvement and implementing payroll systems.
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, growing companies.
  • Fast learner who can quickly adapt to new environments, systems and processes.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow through.
  • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • A high degree of professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential materials.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
