Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Specialist to join our Manufacturing client in North York and support the processing of the company's payroll. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, addressing payroll-related inquiries, and maintaining compliance with relevant legislation.

Position : Payroll Specialist

Location : North York

Industry : Manufacturing

Type : 6 month contract to start with potential to extend.

  • Do you have strong experience processing for Canadian employees?
  • Do you have experience processing through ADP Workforce Now or Ceridian Dayforce?

Responsibilities

In this Payroll Specialist role in North York, you will hold the following responsibilities :

  • Gather information on hours worked for each employee, calculate the correct amount incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses, etc., and prepare and execute payroll.
  • Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors in a timely and professional manner.
  • Process Records of Employment (ROEs) promptly and maintain accurate payroll records.
  • Process taxes and payment of employee benefits, and keep track of pay rates, wages, compensation benefit rates, new hire information, etc.
  • Manage and process short-term disability cases in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications

To be eligible for this Payroll Specialist role in North York, you will need the following qualifications :

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or Payroll Administrator.
  • Working towards or holding a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification with The National Institute of Payroll is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and Canadian regulations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel) and familiarity with payroll software (ADP / Ceridian).
  • Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality.
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail.
