A leading Canadian education provider is seeking a part-time High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor in Edmonton. Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum.
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at Grade 9-12 level.
  • Fourth year university students with tutoring experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with students as an Interactive Coach.
  • Teach online and in-person up to 3 students at a time.
  • Fill in post-lesson notes and complete daily student communication updates.

Overview

Part-Time High School Math/Science Teacher/Tutor Wanted. Motivated by mathematics? Sharp with science? Excited by equations in both fields? Eager to help students succeed in math and science? Oxford Learning Edmonton Summerside is currently seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is ideal for anyone who loves working with students, enjoys numbers and equations, and is passionate about helping others build their skills in these areas. Teachers-Tutors at Oxford Learning do not have to plan lessons before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification an asset
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 9-12 math and science curriculum, particularly senior math including Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry and calculus, as well as vectors, physics, chemistry, and biology
Experience
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math and science at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities
  • Work directly with students as an Interactive Coach with responsibilities including teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teach online and in-person
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Fill in post-lesson notes
  • Complete daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times

Location

This is an in-person role. You must be able to commute to the Oxford Learning Edmonton Summerside location. Relocation packages are not available.
