Overview

Intercity Packers Ltd. is the largest meat / seafood distribution company in Western Canada and part of the Gordon Food Service (GFS). We are committed to integrity, quality, safety, sustainability, accountability and trust, and we value teamwork and respect. We are looking for a Full-Time Permanent Sales Representative to support our expanding sales strategy, reporting to the Director of Sales. The successful candidate will be accountable for driving new bulk commodity and protein sales growth on Vancouver Island.

Position: Full Time, Permanent

Location: Candidate can be located anywhere on Vancouver Island. Preference for those located in Victoria or Nanaimo.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, business hours.

Travel: Minimal. Will be required to travel to the Lower Mainland a few times a year.

Salary and Allowance: 100% commission. Candidate will start on salary structure for a maximum of six (6) months and may opt in to commission structure earlier. Salary structure will be based on a range of $75,000-$100,000 per year, plus car allowance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a business plan and sales strategy for assigned accounts to achieve company sales goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for total growth through analysis and sales insights.
  • Initiate and coordinate development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Collaboratively work with internal departments, in particular Product Development & Operations.
  • Represent Intercity Packers in all internal and external dealings with professionalism and integrity.
  • Build relationships with clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle and ability to travel as required.
  • Direct-selling and account management experience required.
  • Sales experience in a protein food service company is required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills, with a high degree of tact and persuasiveness.
  • Effective communication in an open and direct manner; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related discipline preferred, or other job related equivalent business experience.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Proficiency with the Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Hangouts, Slides).
