Overview

The OPP Association represents over 6,200 uniform members and approximately 3,600 civilian members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Our members, committed and well-trained, provide cost-effective policing services to 324 communities across Ontario, covering nearly a million square kilometers of land and 100,000 square kilometers of waterways. The Association acts as their sole bargaining agent, advocating for improved work environments, better tools and equipment, and enhanced support for members' health and safety.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for an In-House Lawyer specializing in Police Advocacy at the OPP Association in Barrie, ON, with some work from home options available. The In-House Lawyer will be responsible for representing the Association and its members in legal matters, providing legal advice, handling negotiations with the employer (Ontario government), and advocating for members\' interests. The role also involves ensuring compliance with legal standards, supporting health and safety initiatives, and drafting and reviewing legal documents.

Qualifications
  • Experience in legal representation, negotiation, and advocacy
  • Strong skills in legal research, drafting, and reviewing legal documents
  • Knowledge of labor law, employment law, and regulatory compliance
