Position Description

We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a fast paced, multi-tasker to add to our Nanaimo, BC operations. This opportunity is for a Operations Supervisor to join the E360 Solutions team to participate with the operations at our Nanaimo, BC location. The focus of the role is to supervise the processing of truckloads of containerized waste by processing, counting, sorting, and transporting these containers to the appropriate area of the facility.

Position Responsibilities
  • Abide by all Health and Safety protocols.
  • Ensure all yard staff remain on task.
  • Meet process quota.
  • Supervise all yard employees.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and safe manner.
  • Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment including skid steers, excavator and forklift.
  • Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policy’. Identify any training gaps and resolve the issue.
  • Assist with general labor and maintenance tasks, as required. Includes outside and inside premises.
  • Conduct team meetings.
  • Ensure that environmental standards are identified, communicated and enforced within the department.
  • Perform a minimum of one yearly performance evaluation for each departmental employee.
  • Provide support for the continuous improvement initiatives within E360.
  • Ensure that safety standards are identified, communicated and achieved within the department.
  • Where an established safety standard is not being met, identify the root cause and take the appropriate action.
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned.
  • Oversee upkeep, fueling, and some preventative maintenance of all yard equipment.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
  • Conducts planned workplace inspections.
  • Seeks out and corrects acts or conditions, ensuring all safety and non-safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Ensure adherence to established quality and housekeeping standards.
  • Review and adhere to E360 health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, operating procedures, and policies.
  • Respond immediately to items brought to his/her attention with respect to hazards, defects or non-compliance issues.
  • Understand and uphold the policies that prohibit workplace violence and harassment.
  • Involvement in the accident/incident program, determine root causes, correct action and following-up to ensure completion.
  • In addition to the above, the duties include those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1 to 2 years of previous supervisory experience.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work night shift
  • Must be able to work overtime.
  • Experience and qualified to operate skid steers, excavators, and other industrial mobile equipment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and own vehicle.
  • A significant portion of the work shift will be spent outside in the yard.
