Job description

ProMach's Edson Packaging Machinery division, is seeking an Operations Manager to lead plant operations. Are you motivated by this work? You’ll oversee production scheduling, manage manufacturing activities, and coordinate supply‑chain processes to improve throughput, reduce costs, and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction. This position will be onsite and based in Hamilton, Ontario.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes the overall vision and direction for the implementation of the internal operations.
  • Develop and implement new business strategies for creating or improving processes and procedures to improve business performance.
  • Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary.
  • Hire, train, develop and engage employees both within the operations team and in the company.
  • Manage the team engagement in the department by setting and demonstrating a strong business ethic for dealing with employees, suppliers and customers.
  • Monitor financial performance to ensure the department is meeting or exceeding budgetary commitment.
  • Examines reports (e. g. , inventory, sales and daily reports) to determine the operational activities of the company and ensure optimum performance.
  • Ensure that all reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for integration task assignment and resource loading schedules.
  • Responsible for primary and integration quality control checks and department safety.
  • Oversee building maintenance and review overhead costs for business saving opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • A post‑secondary diploma or degree in engineering, business or similar is required.
  • 10 or more years of previous management experience in a custom manufacturing, automation environment with proven leadership abilities required.
  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
  • Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
  • A clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures and other operational issues faced by the organization.
  • Proven ability to implement strong controls and process standards.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Syteline a plus) and Microsoft Project or similar workflow planning programs.
  • Proficient technical knowledge and process support skills, including a good knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
Travel

Occasional travel to the U.S. will be required.
