A local educational institution in Central Saanich is seeking a SENĆOTEN Teacher On-Call to support Indigenous students in language development and foster cultural connections. The ideal candidate will possess a valid BC Teaching Certificate or equivalent, with a strong proficiency in SENĆOTEN and an understanding of local Indigenous cultures. They will work collaboratively to enhance language fluency and cultural awareness within the school community. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact on student learning and engagement.
Driven by our desire to help students thrive in their academic and personal lives, the Saanich School District provides quality educational programmes and a safe and nurturing learning environment for the over 7,000 culturally diverse students within its 18 schools. Serving the Saanich Peninsula located just north of Victoria, BC, the district has one of the highest graduation rates in the province and a student body that consistently scores well on annual assessment tests, thanks in large part to the dedication and efforts of our 900 teaching and support staff.
Preference may be given to applicants of Indigenous ancestry who can demonstrate knowledge of, and commitment to Indigenous culture and ancestry. (Such individuals are strongly encouraged to self-identify on their application).
This posting is open to both internal and external candidates. External candidates can apply online via Make a Future or send your cover letter and resume to hr_teaching@saanichschools.ca. We thank all candidates in advance for applying; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
