Position Details
- Position: Casual Security Guard
- Site: Various Sites in Thunder Bay
- Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
- Hours: Various Hours
- Payrate: 19.80/hr
- Posting Date: September 23rd, 2025
- Internal Closing Date: September 30th, 2025
- External Closing Date: October 21st, 2025
- Note: This position is "as needed". We do not guarantee minimum hours while employed as a casual security guard. Candidates must be flexible in their overnight availability and be able to pick up shifts on short notice.

Key Responsibilities
- Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
- Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
Prerequisites
- Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C
- COVID-19 vaccination (two doses)
- Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
- Valid G class Driver License with last 3 years of clean abstract
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin\'s UoF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Note: UoF/MOAB training is not paid, but Paladin will cover the costs with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.

Education & Certification Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Standard First Aid, CPR Level C
- Valid Ontario Security License
- Immunization Record for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella and two step TB skin test
- COVID-19 vaccination
