Overall Purpose of Job

Working with and on behalf of the client, develop and monitor Occupational Health Programs to enhance the effectiveness and health of the employees of the client and to help reduce the Frequency of Lost Time Injury.

Key Responsibilities

Policies and Procedures

  • Develop a professional Occupational Health Policy for the client
  • Maintain / Update local OH requirements as necessary to the client

Staff Health

  • Develop programs for staff aimed to prevent work related injuries
  • Develop Health Promotion Programs for staff
  • Administer medications, immunizations etc as required by the client

Work Related Injury

  • Provide Occupational Health Monitor ‘return to work’ for employees as necessary
  • Provide Occupational Health and Injury Management advice, support and direction to enable successful resolution of health related issues where possible
  • Maintain confidential records of all staff injury management
  • Co-ordinate and liaise with external Specialists as necessary
  • Liaise with all parties involved in the injury management of employees; this can include Return to Work Coordinators, Safety and employees with a health concern
  • Track health concern rehabilitation of injured employees until discharge (i.e. there is no longer a health concern).

Health Monitoring

  • Perform health monitoring as agreed by the client
  • Assist the client to comply with all relevant regulations and statutory requirements in order to minimize the client’s risk exposure and liabilities

Reporting

  • To provide regular reports to (client) management as agreed with the client
  • Ensure the delivery of reporting procedures for Health Surveillance Programs to the client

Management

  • To maintain all paperwork associated with the role in an orderly manner;
  • Participate in scheduled meetings as required or requested;
  • Ensure effective communication with internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure the services are timely, tailored, effectively utilized and better than competing providers;
About You


Must-haves (minimum requirements):
• Work experience as an Occupational Health Nurse

• ACLS

• Exceptional collaboration with other groups and the ability to work under pressure
• Current registration with CARNA

• Audiometry & Spirometry
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Alignment with our values of expertise,passion,respect and care


Preference for:
• Experience in an industrial setting
• A high level of knowledge and the ability to interpret relevant medical and operational guidelines, protocols, policies and procedures
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
• Hold others accountable, and expect others to do the same


Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

• You will work out of our camp-based client sites. Accommodations & meals provided
• The working schedule varies from 2 weeks on to 2 weeks off to 3 weeks on 3 weeks off
• On-call and extended hours may be required after hours when operational and business requirements indicate
