Job summary

A community support organization in Ottawa is seeking a dedicated individual to provide Front Line service at the Booth Centre. The role involves engaging with clients, assessing their needs, and ensuring the safety and security of the facility. Candidates should have relevant post-secondary education in social work, 1-3 years’ experience with difficult populations, and possess effective communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingualism and experience with Narcan are strong assets. This position offers a competitive hourly wage of $22.72 and includes night and weekend incentives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience working with hard to serve population with addictions and/or mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of client community and community resources.
  • Experience administering Narcan and/or Narcan training a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Front Line service to clients at Ottawa Booth Centre.
  • Maintain security of the facility and its residents.
  • Initiate contact with clients and gather information to assess needs.
  • Complete intake and discharge procedures.
  • Provide emergency assistance when required.

Skills

Effective communication, both oral and written
Effective interpersonal skills
Some computer skills in word processing and database
Bilingual (English and French)

Education

Relevant post-secondary education in social work or related field
