Location: Quebec, Nova Scotia, & Ontario (100% Remote, medium preference for local candidates)

Work Authorization: Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only

Duration: 10+ months

Interview Process: 2-3 rounds, including in-person interview for local candidates

We are seeking an experienced MySQL Database Developer with a strong background in MySQL architecture, AWS RDS/Aurora, and MongoDB to join a leading medical devices client. The role supports 100% remote work but has a medium preference for candidates local to Halifax or nearby provinces (Quebec, Nova Scotia, Ontario). Local candidates may be required onsite once per week.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain MySQL databases and architecture to support medical device applications
• Manage cloud-based database solutions using AWS RDS and Aurora
• Develop and maintain MongoDB databases and data models
• Ensure database security best practices and compliance with industry standards
• Implement disaster recovery (DR) plans and data migration strategies across environments and RDBMS platforms
• Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure scalable and automated database operations
• Monitor database performance and optimize queries for efficiency and reliability

Must-Have Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with MySQL architecture and development
• 3+ years of experience working with AWS RDS and/or Aurora
• 2+ years of experience with MongoDB
• Strong understanding of cloud security, scalability, and automation practices
• Experience with database security, disaster recovery design, and cross-platform data migration
• Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (no exceptions)

Nice to Have

• Experience in medical device domain (preferred but not mandatory)
