Qualifications

Job description
The Opportunity:

The Material Supply Specialist reports to the Purchasing Leader and will be responsible for ordering and monitoring of indirect materials and services to support production as well as provide support to the team on direct materials when required. Any MLF team member interested in being considered for this role is encouraged to apply online by January 12. Applications received beyond that date are not guaranteed consideration. Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:
  • Monitor supplies to ensure availability to meet production demands.
  • Responsible for direct, indirect, and ingredient materials purchasing within the department.
  • Work with Sanitation, Production, HR, H&S, QA, CI, and Traffic teams to ensure purchase orders are placed as required.
  • Work with the Purchasing Leader and designated suppliers to implement cost‑reduction proposals, product standardization, and promotion of best practices.
  • Work within SAP, SAP SRM, set up vendors and prepare purchase orders.
  • Work with finance on any discrepancies through open PO reporting and reducing scrap for expiry items.
  • Interact with planning, shipping/receiving, purchasing and production to ensure the daily requirements for production are met.
  • Arrange transportation for London inbound materials, 3PL storage, and recycling needs for the plant.
  • Investigate discrepancies in inventory and drive continuous improvement.
  • Work with QA and H&S to ensure new products being ordered are approved for use in the facility.
  • Responsible for ensuring that confirmation of receiving on PO’s is completed accurately, will investigate any discrepancies through open PO reporting.
  • Maintain vendor relationships.
  • Drive process improvements within the Material Control areas.
  • Ensures duties are performed with compliance to food safety and health and safety standards.
