Westerner Park is seeking a temporary Marketing Coordinator, for approximately three months, to join its dynamic team.
The Marketing Coordinator is a key member of the Marketing & Communications team, responsible for creating engaging visual content, coordinating campaigns, and supporting the execution of Westerner Park’s marketing strategy. This role combines graphic design and digital media expertise with marketing coordination skills, including managing web and social media platforms, updating website content, supporting sponsorship fulfillment, and assisting with campaign planning and reporting.
We are looking for someone who is organized, collaborative, and proactive, with a passion for creative digital storytelling and brand building. In this position, you’ll develop skills in content creation, digital platforms, campaign coordination, and analytics while gaining front-row access to some of Central Alberta’s leading events, making this role as dynamic and rewarding as it is unforgettable.
Under the direction of the Assistant Marketing Manager, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the following:
Responsibilities
Content Creation & Design
- Design and produce content and graphics for web, email, social media, print, and on-site signage, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and event messaging.
- Manage and schedule digital signage around the park, ensuring timely, accurate, and visually engaging event and sponsor messaging.
- Collaborate with internal departments and event teams to develop marketing materials and visual assets.
- Help manage digital asset files, photo/video libraries, and version control for shared resources.
Web & Digital Platforms
- Update and maintain website pages using content management systems (e.g., WordPress), applying user-friendly layout practices and basic HTML/CSS when needed.
- Conduct content audits and keyword research to support SEO best practices and improve website discoverability.
- Build and support email marketing campaigns using tools like Mailchimp or Constant Contact, including list segmentation and performance tracking.
- Assist with paid digital campaigns (e.g., Google Ads, Meta) by preparing creative assets and supporting campaign uploads and analytics.
Social Media & Engagement
- Assist with planning, writing, scheduling, and publishing content across social media platforms.
- Monitor engagement, track performance, and flag opportunities for improvement.
Advertising & Promotions
- Book, coordinate, and execute advertising campaigns across radio, newspaper, magazines, outdoor, and other community media outlets.
- Support sponsorship fulfillment by ensuring sponsor visibility through both digital and advertising channels.
Strategy & Reporting
- Contribute creative ideas and insights to the overall marketing strategy, helping shape campaigns that strengthen Westerner Park’s brand and community impact.
- Track performance metrics (web traffic, social engagement, email opens, signage impressions, campaign results) and contribute to monthly reporting dashboards.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and stay informed on emerging trends in marketing, design, and media consumption.

Here is what you bring:
- Post-secondary education in Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, or digital media (including internships, volunteer roles, or academic projects).
- A portfolio of relevant design and digital work (e.g., school projects, personal work, internships).
- Familiarity with design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and, or Canva.
- Experience working with website CMSs like WordPress; basic HTML/CSS skills are an asset.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Later).
- Experience with email marketing platforms and analytics tools (e.g., Constant Contact, Google Analytics) is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends during events or content capture opportunities.
