Job description

Our client is seeking a Marketing Broker to join their Calgary team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance professional who thrives on market negotiations, building strong insurer relationships, and supporting the placement of sophisticated commercial programs.

The Role
As a Marketing Broker, you will play a critical role in supporting the production team by marketing new and renewal business, securing competitive terms, and ensuring the delivery of tailored solutions that meet client needs. You will work closely with insurers and internal stakeholders to negotiate coverage, terms, and pricing for mid- to large-sized commercial accounts across multiple industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market and place complex commercial accounts by developing strong insurer relationships and negotiating competitive terms.
  • Collaborate with AccountExecutives to understand client needs and recommend appropriate coverage structures.
  • Manage renewals, endorsements, and re-marketing as required to ensure ongoing client satisfaction.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing strategies for larger portfolio placements.
  • Stay current with industry developments, insurer appetites, and new product offerings.
  • Represent the brokerage at insurer meetings and industry events as required.
  • Support internal initiatives, special projects, and process improvements.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of commercial insurance experience, ideally with a focus on placement, broking, or underwriting.
  • Post-secondary education and/or a professional designation (CIP, CAIB, CRM) is preferred.
  • Level 2 General Insurance License required.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and client-focused, with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
