Permanent Full-Time Market and Logistics Research Analyst – In‑Scope Level 07 – Liquor Wholesale and Distribution Division, Regina – Vacancy #40/F26

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) is seeking a self‑motivated and detail‑oriented individual to provide support as a Market and Logistics Research Analyst within the Liquor Wholesale and Distribution Division. This position is required to work on‑site, reporting to the Manager, Analytics and Forecasting.

Summary

Reporting directly to the Manager of Analytics and Forecasting, the Market and Logistics Research Analyst plays a central role in supporting the business intelligence and strategic objectives of the liquor wholesale supply chain, with a particular emphasis on reporting, analytics, and data storytelling. This position is responsible for preparing comprehensive reports and forecasts that drive informed decision‑making for SLGA including senior leadership and external partners. The Analyst leads the optimization of reporting processes by continually seeking opportunities to enhance the quality, integrity, and efficiency of data. In addition to reporting, the role involves leading market and operational research projects, developing recommendations, and establishing key performance indicators across product management, pricing, purchasing, and policies.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain reports using Power BI, regularly reviewing existing reports to ensure consistency and integrate updated features as needed.
  • Apply data storytelling principles to ensure reports and presentations are engaging, accessible, and tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Investigate and develop key performance indicators that enhance data storytelling and analytics.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to inform decisions on product mix, strategic operations, and revenue generation.
  • Provide guidance in data governance, including identifying appropriate data sources, improving data quality, and effective research planning.
  • Present analysis to stakeholders, advising on customer and market insights to help SLGA and its partners meet evolving demand and maximize revenue.
  • Support product forecasting by analyzing internal and external market data to create informed and realistic predictions.
  • Monitor and maintain reporting for the Liquor Information Online Network (LION), the external reporting system for liquor suppliers.
Required Technical Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, economics, statistics, mathematics, business, or related discipline.
  • Minimum one year experience in a business intelligence role.
  • Experience using Power BI (desktop and service) to import, retrieve, and analyze data, as well as create reports.
  • Working knowledge of SQL is not required but would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to logically and accurately combine and analyze information from multiple sources.
  • Ability to assess data accuracy, spot inconsistencies, and recommend reliable data sources.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in applying comparison concepts and formulas to evaluate trends, performance, and changes over time.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of customer service and adapt approach based on the audience.
  • Proven ability to communicate and present information effectively with audiences of varying technical backgrounds and adapt accordingly.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, OneDrive, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to teamwork by actively supporting colleagues in a One Team environment.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and communicate individual, group, and organizational priorities.
Travel Requirement

This position requires occasional in‑province travel.

Working Conditions

Core office hours are 8:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Monday to Friday. This role is primarily desk‑based, with most of the work day dedicated to computer use, including keyboarding, data analysis, and system navigation. The Market and Logistics Research Analyst must demonstrate their commitment to safety by consistently ensuring the well‑being of themselves and others in the workplace.
