Bethesda is seeking a Manager of Philanthropy and Development to join our leadership team and help foster a workplace culture rooted in compassion, inclusion and Christian values. Founded in 1971 Bethesda is a CARF-accredited organization that supports around 350 people with diverse abilities across British Columbia.

With a team of 454 staff and a $31.6M annual budget, we offer a wide range of person-centered services; including staff supported homes, community inclusion, family support and summer camps throughout the Lower Mainland and the Okanagan. JOB OVERVIEW

As the Manager of Philanthropy and Development you will serve as a member of Bethesda’s team at our provincial office in Abbotsford. You will provide strategic leadership in all areas of fundraising, donor relations and development. This includes cultivating relationships with donors, churches and community partners, coordinating major campaigns and events, managing legacy giving initiatives and aligning development efforts with Bethesda’s mission and values. You will work closely with the Director of Finance, senior leadership team, Communications and Family Support & Community Development departments to ensure alignment between development, community engagement and communications strategies. This is a full-time position available immediately.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Bethesda offers a benefit package and competitive salary: $74,880 – $78,208.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all fundraising, donor stewardship and legacy giving programs.
  • Develop and implement annual and long-term fundraising strategies in collaboration with senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Build and nurture relationships with individual donors, churches, foundations and corporate partners.
  • Lead major fundraising campaigns, events and sponsorship initiatives.
  • Partner with the Communications team to create compelling donor materials and impact stories.
  • Manage fundraising budgets, track campaign performance, and report outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all charitable fundraising regulations and ethical standards.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • A willingness to support the mission of Bethesda to people with diverse abilities.
  • Post-secondary education in fundraising, business, marketing or a related field.
  • CFRE designation and/or equivalent experience in fundraising leadership with willingness to obtain additional education is an asset.
  • Demonstrated success in donor relations, major gifts or business development.
  • Proficiency with donor management software (e.g., Donor Perfect) and CRM systems.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends for events or donor meetings.
  • Excellent communication and writing.
  • Proven leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build solid relationships.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high level of personal integrity, initiative and maturity.
  • Standard requirements (criminal record check, medical clearance and ICBC driving record).
  • Personal values in line with Bethesda’s Christian foundations and Guiding Principles.
