Manager, Metrolinx Jasper Alberta Bus Operations

Metrolinx—connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe—operates GO Transit and UP Express. We are building new rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system to get people where they need to go, faster and more efficiently. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario. This role is located in Jasper, Alberta and offers a salary of $119,908 a year for a full‑time position.

As a Manager of Bus Operations, you will provide technical leadership and direction for the safe, reliable, and effective operation of a comprehensive GO Transit Bus Network within the GO Transit jurisdiction. Your responsibilities include ensuring on‑time and quality service to meet customer expectations.

  • Plan, implement, and manage the operation of the GO Transit Bus Network and any contracted services.
  • Lead the planning, justification, recruitment, and training of the resources required for new bus services, enhancements, and bus rapid transit initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, Ministry of Transportation (MTO) requirements, employment standards, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Manage the development of accessible bus services in line with corporate objectives.
  • Oversee bus information systems to provide accurate and timely data for service delivery and planning activities.
  • Coordinate operational aspects of service integration, fare integration, and intermodal transfers at various terminal locations.
  • Track, investigate, and respond to customer enquiries and complaints.
  • Develop, update, and manage operational emergency response plans and activities.
  • Plan operational service levels to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure effective delivery of driver safety and training programs.
  • Plan and execute bus passenger transportation services and service modifications, including BRT initiatives.
  • Develop, review, and approve operating budgets related to Bus Operations.
  • Provide thought leadership to develop and deploy a strategic vision aligned with corporate goals.
  • Directly supervise more than 15 employees and a department of over 100 staff within a unionized workforce, including negotiation of bargaining unit issues, grievance, arbitration, and collective bargaining.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Completion of a degree or diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline, or equivalent education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing a comprehensive bus transit network.
  • Valid CZ license with a clean driving record.
