Overview

Role Summary

The Manager, Global Compliance (Third Party Risk Management and Investigations) will be a member of the Global Compliance team, providing day-to-day management of compliance program initiatives. This role will have direct responsibility for managing or supporting specific compliance projects, including managing the global risk management and due diligence program; drafting and maintaining policies, procedures, and training materials related to export control regulations; monitoring changes to export control regulations and ensuring compliance requirements; supporting the legal team for sanctions screening; supporting ESG efforts (e.g., LkSG, CSDDD or UK Modern Slavery Act requirements); and managing PENTAX Medical/HOYA hotline and compliance investigations, and such other compliance program initiatives as directed by the Chief Compliance Officer. This role will also provide similar support to the HOYA divisions that comprise the Medtech companies of HOYA (i.e., Microline Surgical and Wassenburg).

Responsibilities
  • Partner with stakeholders throughout the PENTAX Medical organization (legal, HR, operations, etc.) to develop, operate, and enhance an effective compliance program
  • Ensure that appropriate compliance policies, procedures and internal controls are in place
  • Manage and maintain a risk-based anti-bribery due diligence screening process for high risk third parties who conduct business with or on behalf of PENTAX Medical
  • Design and coordinate compliance monitoring activities
  • Develop and execute risk mitigation reviews of significant business activities
  • Provide related training to PENTAX employees and business partners on anti-bribery topics
  • Collaborate and consult with stakeholders on an ongoing basis to identify issues of non-compliance and report information to the Chief Compliance Officer
  • Partner with key stakeholders to assist in ensuring that PENTAX effectively screens transactions and business partners against sanctioned entities and individuals
  • Manage the hotline process for PENTAX Medical and exercise good judgement in triaging hotline case reports
  • Conduct and manage compliance investigations regarding allegations of law or company policy ethical standards and prepare written reports on the findings
  • Assist with the determination and implementation of corrective actions
  • Develop hotline communication materials, such as posters, emails and videos
  • Assist the Global Compliance team with monitoring and enforcement of compliance efforts, including risk assessments, compliance reviews and audits
  • Assist the Chief Compliance Officer to continue to embed a culture of ethics and compliance at PENTAX Medical
  • Assist the Chief Compliance Officer on other projects as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)) is a plus but not required
  • 5+ years of compliance experience in third party due diligence compliance screening for a global company
  • 2-3 years of experience in export controls
  • Experience with healthcare compliance and/or compliance investigations preferred
  • Knowledge of key laws and regulations impacting the medical device or life science industry (e.g., AKS, Sunshine Act) preferred
  • Team oriented and ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment with a focus on problem solving
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced public speaking skills
  • Ability to work evenings and early mornings to accommodate telephone meetings with colleagues in Asia-Pacific and Europe
  • Travel required, including international travel to support compliance responsibilities and initiatives - Approximately 10-15%
  • Analytical mindset with excellent organizational skills
