A municipality in Canada is seeking a Facilities Management Program Planner to develop and oversee the maintenance program for City buildings. This role involves preparing assessments, scheduling projects, and ensuring compliance with established standards. A diploma in building technology and knowledge of preventive maintenance methods are required. The position offers a full-time schedule with a monthly salary between $7,383 and $8,719.
This position works in the Facilities organizational unit. This is administrative and technical work related to the development, maintenance and implementation of the City’s facilities maintenance program. An incumbent develops the preventive maintenance and repair program; prepares facility condition assessments for City buildings and ancillary equipment; assists in the development of capital budget planning estimates; schedules and coordinates projects related to minor capital renovation and component replacement; conducts research, analyses and compiles data, prepares and makes recommendations for the facilities preventive maintenance program; tracks progress of projects carried out by other staff. Considerable independent judgment and action is exercised in carrying out the work while unusual problems and policy matters are discussed with a supervisor who reviews the work for effectiveness, compliance with established standards, achievement of objectives and exercise of sound judgement. Performs related work as required.
Diploma program in building or architectural technology including or supplemented by related courses, plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Thorough knowledge of the preventive maintenance program, methods, materials, and equipment related to building structures, fixtures and ancillary equipment; knowledge of bylaws, codes and regulations related to buildings and ancillary equipment and of departmental policies and procedures applicable to the work performed. Knowledge of facility construction methods, costing methods and procedures, facility condition assessment guidelines and standards, and engineering drafting practices. Ability to inspect City buildings and ancillary equipment for signs of deterioration; ability to prepare, monitor and control projects and costs for preventive maintenance and repair. Experience with Asset Management Software (VFA) and SAP is considered an asset. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts and to maintain records and reports. A Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
