The Role

ThisMaintenance Supervisor role requires you to leverage your skills and experience to drive a culture of excellence, focus, and collaboration. You will oversee the repair and preventative maintenance of all stamping equipment and ensure departmental productivity, quality, safety, and cost targets are achieved for all stamping equipment on your shift.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: College Diploma in a technical field or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role within a unionized environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience troubleshooting issues in stamping presses.
  • Ability to work all shifts (days, afternoons, midnights).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline. If the degree is from outside Canada, provide an Education Credential Assessment for Canadian equivalency. Successful candidates must provide proof of degree completion.
  • Experience: Skilled trades certificate in mechanical, tool & die, or electrical preferred.
  • Experience in an automotive heavy stamping facility.
  • Proficiency with industrial controls (PLCs such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens drives, HMIs).
  • Exposure to maintaining and troubleshooting Jier presses.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and constraint management principles.
Responsibilities
  • Mentor and coach safety, quality and productivity to meet objectives through standardized work.
  • Lead skilled trades to evaluate equipment readiness for maintaining and improving production yields, output, and uptime within budget and time constraints.
  • Maximize stamping equipment effectiveness to improve productivity and quality.
  • Develop and lead preventative maintenance activities.
  • Champion constraint analysis and coordinate actions to eliminate production bottlenecks.
  • Develop and implement a training strategy for all team members.
  • Coordinate and schedule resources and materials; request overtime when required to meet maintenance needs and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, ensuring timely repairs.
  • Enforce health and safety rules in compliance with government, industry and corporate standards.
  • Coordinate Safety Operating System activities including overhead safety, lifting and rigging, and Energy Control and Lockout procedures.
  • Determine and correct root causes of downtime issues.
  • Lead problem-solving meetings to eliminate downtime.
  • Mentor and teach maintenance troubleshooting techniques to improve mean time between failure and repair.
  • Generate and implement cost savings and process improvement suggestions.
  • Perform basic administration of supervisory responsibilities and documents including time keeping.
  • Recognize and celebrate team accomplishments.
