Overview

Cardinal Health Canada, with over 1300 employees nationwide, is an essential link in the Canadian healthcare supply chain, providing over 70,000 products to healthcare facilities and medical professionals across the country. Cardinal Health-Gananoque manufactures life-impacting medical devices and employs over 450 people with 119 years of Canadian history. We are seeking a full-time, permanent Maintenance Supervisor for our Gananoque facility. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead the site’s maintenance programs, develop strategies to improve these programs to the latest industry best practices, and collaborate with a team of skilled mechanical, electrical, and facilities staff to achieve site goals in an FDA-regulated 24/7 operation.

Key areas include improving equipment reliability (OEE), maintenance KPIs, standardizing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and developing the entire workforce on maintenance excellence. This role also provides leadership to the storeroom and the maintenance information system (Maximo).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement maintenance excellence programs, technological advancements, and best practices into operations.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance practices and sound engineering principles.
  • Focus on making reliable improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Proven ability to implement robust solutions to recurring opportunities.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions and approaches to equipment problems; strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Coordinate maintenance events with Operations and Engineering Teams, including resource planning, changeovers, preventive maintenance, and project scheduling.
  • Collaborate with other Cardinal Health manufacturing facilities to spread and adopt best practices.
  • Develop, train, and mentor Team Leads, Maintenance, and Operations personnel.
  • Utilize corporate capital processes to support project execution in a financially responsible fashion, in collaboration with Senior Leadership.
  • Support operations and maintenance, and project teams by providing direct technical expertise during troubleshooting, optimization, centerlining, and maintenance activities; coordinate and direct contractor activities.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Cardinal Quality Management, Safety, Environmental Management Systems, and governing regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to support operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education/Training and/or Experience
  • 3-4 year college diploma (in related field) and/or undergraduate degree in Engineering (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience, including 2-3 years implementing reliability-centered maintenance programs and related improvements.
  • Understanding of condition-based maintenance (CBM).
  • Formal business management training, education, and related experience (an asset).
  • Industrial/manufacturing process and/or packaging automation experience.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to exceed; must be a change agent.
  • Ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams; open and engaging with others.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of quality system regulations.
  • Maintenance Information System experience (Maximo preferred).
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks; able to make decisions independently when necessary.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical background; PLC/Controls knowledge and experience.
  • Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques are an asset; solid troubleshooting skills.
