Our client is seeking a seasoned Maintenance and Engineering leader to step into a highly visible, high-impact role within a complex pulp and paper manufacturing environment. Reporting to senior operations leadership, this position provides ownership of maintenance strategy, engineering execution, and capital planning across multiple assets. The role plays a critical part in driving safety, reliability, and long-term asset performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion a strong safety culture through visible leadership and active engagement
  • Lead maintenance and engineering teams with clear expectations, accountability, and a focus on development
  • Partner closely with operations and site leadership to ensure alignment and effective decision-making
  • Own budgeting, performance tracking, and cost improvement initiatives within maintenance and engineering
  • Act as a change leader, strengthening systems, standards, and execution discipline
  • Ensure teams remain informed, aligned, and focused on company priorities and values
  • Develop salaried talent through coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities
  • Foster productive working relationships across both salaried and hourly teams
  • Provide oversight of engineering execution, standards, and technical performance
  • Support capital planning and execution, including multi-year investment planning and reporting
  • Provide leadership coverage as needed to support overall mill operations

Experience & Background
  • Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent trade-based experience
  • 10+ years of experience in the pulp and paper industry
  • Proven leadership of maintenance, engineering, and capital initiatives
  • Working knowledge of standard business and reporting tools
Preferred
  • Professional Engineer certification
  • Progressive leadership experience within pulp and paper operations
Work Environment
