Overview

Location: Mississauga, Ontario

  • Work locations will vary as driver will be on the road

Hours of Work: 40 hours/week

Language: English

Benefits: Eligible for discretionary bonuses and/or salary increases in accordance with company policy.

Salary: $ 36.00 CAD / hour

Duties
  • Operating and driving heavy duty, special purpose trucks over long distances
  • Driving as part of a two-person team
  • Loading and unloading cargo
  • Planning and adjusting trip logistics and routes based on goods and variable traffic or weather conditions
  • Using GPS or other navigation tools to plan routes
  • Addressing customers’ complaints and concerns
  • Overseeing the condition of vehicle and inspecting tires, lights, brakes…etc. to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate
  • Performing emergency roadside repairs
  • Performing pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections of vehicle in accordance with safety requirements and following relevant safety procedures
  • Using refrigerated equipment and regularly inspecting the equipment to ensure cargo temperatures are maintained at set points
  • Communicating with dispatch and other drivers while on trips to ensure deliveries and pickups are completed on time
  • Recording cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Regularly inspecting cargo to ensure it is safe and secure while on trips
Requirements
  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • 1+ years’ experience operating a heavy duty, special purpose truck or completion of an accredited driver training course of up to three months duration, through a vocational school or community college is required
  • On-the-job-training is provided
  • AZ Class License or equivalent (or ability to obtain) is required
  • Air Brakes Endorsement is required
  • Satisfactory Driver CVOR and MVR Record (Minimal Violations)
  • Having knowledge of and ability to use electronic logbooks
  • Ability to work independently and in a 2-person team setting
