About the position

Duties

• Verify project directives to ensure compliance with applicable policies.
• Modify existing network infrastructure designs and update documentation, including “as‑built” diagrams.
• Supervise a team of 3–10 personnel.
• Operate a wide range of test equipment for data collection and analysis, including radio frequency (RF) receivers, signal analyzers, thermal analysis tools, and antenna configurations.
• Operate and maintain radio frequency (RF) measurement systems and communication equipment.
• Prepare technical reports for clients and provide guidance in accordance with policy.
• Conduct technical investigations, trials, and experiments on electronic communication systems and equipment.

Intent of the process

The purpose of this process is to staff approximately 15 EL‑06 positions and 8 EL‑07 positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis within the National Capital Region. Positions may be designated as English Essential or Bilingual and will require various security clearance levels. All roles involve full‑time onsite work across multiple locations, which may require flexibility for regular travel.

Operational Requirements

You need (essential for the job)

Education

• Secondary school diploma.
• Completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology or an employer‑approved alternative (acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).

Experience

• Experience supervising a team of three (3) or more people.
• Experience in the development, testing, and installation of satellite communications systems, RF, electronic infrastructure, or cryptographic or Video‑Audio‑Data equipment.
• Experience as a technologist with complex troubleshooting of electronic equipment and systems.
• Experience managing or maintaining electrical or electronic equipment on modern, complex, highly integrated electro‑mechanical or electronic equipment and systems.
• For EL‑07: Significant experience managing or maintaining advanced equipment and providing strategic and technical advice to senior management (approx. four years).

• Experience with AutoCAD, OrCAD, MS Visio, PCB printer, Altium or Diptrace.
• Experience in lifecycle management of technical materials or assets.
• Experience in selection of appropriate test instruments to verify satellite or RF communication equipment.
• Experience in end‑to‑end troubleshooting of complex RF systems.
• Experience in assembly, testing and maintenance of satellite or RF communication electronic equipment.
• Experience in conducting technical investigations, trials or experiments on satellite or RF communication systems.
• Experience in designing, developing, testing and supporting Video‑Audio‑Data and network systems in secure environments.
