Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Acute Care
Location: Yarmouth, Nova Scotia
Contract Duration: 8 weeks (with potential for extension)

Position Overview

Tahir Medix Staffing is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the Acute Care Unit 2B at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. This role is well-suited for LPNs seeking a travel nursing opportunity in a hospital environment, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care.

Hospital Overview
  • Yarmouth Regional Hospital is a leading healthcare facility in southwestern Nova Scotia.
  • The Acute Care Unit 2B serves medical and post-surgical patients with varying levels of acuity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care within the LPN scope of practice for individuals with defined health challenges and predictable outcomes.
  • Assist in nursing interventions under RN supervision when patient conditions become more complex or unpredictable.
  • Administer medications and support treatment plans as assigned.
  • Monitor patients, document assessments, and ensure compliance with NSHA policies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to provide holistic and patient-centered care.
IV Initiation and Medication Administration
  • IV initiation and IV medication administration are now entry-level competencies in the LPN curriculum.
  • These skills are not practiced in all units—LPNs must confirm approval with the Charge Nurse before performing these procedures.
  • Certain medications may be restricted to RN administration only.
Qualifications
  • Active LPN License in Nova Scotia
  • Minimum one year of recent experience in an acute care setting
  • Mandatory certification: BLS
  • Strong clinical skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced hospital environment
  • Experience with medical, post-surgical, or high-acuity patient care is an asset
