Position Summary

Maintain and repair all of the equipment in the department.

Perform service work on other department vehicles and equipment.

Duties
  • Carry out mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and any other repairs required to ensure the efficient operation of all equipment
  • Carry out and give supervision to the equipment operators concerning regular servicing and maintenance
  • When required, attend to stranded equipment, to carry out field repairs
  • Assist in other duties as required within the garage, including welding, fabricating, etc.
  • Perform safety checks of County vehicles on a regular basis
  • Orders parts as required to maintain vehicle maintenance
General
  • Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
  • Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis

Credentials Required

Minimum Formal Education:

  • Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or a combination of education and experience required to perform the duties of the position
  • Current valid Province of Ontario Driver's license minimum class AZ
  • 310T Truck and Coach Technician
  • 310S Automotive Service Technician
Experience
  • Prior experience as a licensed mechanic performing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, welding and fabrication repairs of a variety of vehicles and equipment
