Missions

The legal counsel will support the efforts of the Legal business line of Amundi Canada. The role will be based in Montreal.

Amundi Canada, an affiliate of the Amundi Group, is a team of approx. 14 persons, including VIEs, that fulfills a combination of roles and expertise. Amundi Canada started its activities in 2007 and conducts commercial development and portfolio management for Canadian institutional clients.

Portfolio management activities are mainly delegated to other Amundi affiliates. A wide range of strategies are offered, including global and Canadian investment vehicles. Amundi Canada has grown substantially, as have the number of clients and accounts.

Since 2024, Amundi Canada legal has also supported the implementation of a new Amundi trading desk in Montreal, Amundi Intermediation Canada. Amundi Canada will be supporting its legal needs going forward.

The Amundi Canada legal department’s scope of activities is broad and varied. It is responsible for all legal matters, including:

  • Corporate governance (board meetings and reporting to Amundi Asset Management)
  • Portfolio management contracts (IMAs, sub‑delegation agreements, amendments)
  • Distribution agreements (subscription agreements, offering documents)
  • Application of local legislation (data privacy, employment, retirement plans, etc.)
  • Registration matters with Canadian regulators
  • Amundi Group policies and procedures compliance and Canadian regulatory obligations
  • Various contracts, namely with external suppliers and Amundi Group intercos
  • Support of internal clients, including Amundi Intermédiation Canada, relating to various matters that require ongoing vigilance regarding local laws

We are looking for someone with a legal background to assist the Senior Corporate Counsel. Their main tasks will be:

  • Being involved in the drafting of various types of portfolio management and corporate contracts and documents
  • Reviewing marketing material to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Assisting with corporate filings, board meetings and registration matters
  • Assisting on wider regulatory matters, including regulatory horizon scanning
  • Providing general legal services and support to Senior Corporate Counsel

2+ years' relevant experience in business law

Experience in the asset management industry an asset

  • Strong legal analysis and drafting skills
  • Knowledge of capital markets, asset management industry and their regulatory environment
  • Detail oriented with good organizational skills
  • Proactive and at ease with assuming responsibilities – flexibility to quickly adapt to changing priorities and ability to work in a fast‑paced, detail‑oriented environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Proficiency with Word and PowerPoint
