We are currently looking to hire a Leather Cutter for a new division in our furniture manufacturing company, located in Surrey BC. Anyone with experience cutting leather can apply, including applicants from overseas who are able to speak English, as the company is willing to handle the paperwork.

Overview

Job Description: Cut leather materials to create components for sofas, chairs, and custom-upholstered furniture pieces. Position leather correctly on the cutting table. Inspect leather for defects, mark defects, assess grain direction, ensure grains are matching, and identify optimal cutting areas to reduce waste and maintain quality. Adjust cutting techniques based on hide size and grain patterns. Select cutting dies based on design specifications and production standards. Lay out patterns precisely on leather and perform cutting using industrial shears, manual tools, or CNC machinery. Operate CNC cutting machines and hand tools to cut parts for furniture upholstery. Maintain organization of all cutting instruments, ensuring equipment is clean, sharp, and safely stored. Work closely with the design, upholstery, and production teams to maintain consistency and meet delivery timelines. Ensure all cutting operations adhere to company quality standards and safety procedures.

  • Skilled in optimizing leather usage and minimizing material waste.
  • Detail-oriented with strong hand-eye coordination and manual ability.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a collaborative production team.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Additional training or certification in cutting, leatherwork, or CNC machine operation is an asset.

This is a full-time position.

Salary: $55,000 to $70,000 per year, plus depending on experience.
