Lead Electrical Engineer (12-18 yrs.)

Job Description
- Design the power electronics, inverter, DC to AC converter and control power distribution architecture of SOFC.
- Develop preliminary power distribution to individual skids and electrical panel requirements based on vendor information.
- Size and select plant UPS and accessories based on critical loads.
- Generate preliminary electrical BoM and update cable schedules for design changes.
- Perform calculations and ensure compliance with utility grid interconnection requirements; medium voltage experience is a plus.
- Ensure compliance with international standards (NFPA, UL, IEEE, CSA).
- Prepare high-quality project documentation: single-line diagrams, load lists, cabinet and wiring diagrams, component datasheets, grounding design, lightning protection concepts.
- Familiar with hazardous area equipment and explosion protection methods.
- Interact with suppliers, OEMs, and panel builders to define solutions and verify quality.
- Develop commissioning and service guidelines and act as a local guide for junior engineers.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong competency in power distribution: concept architecture design, sizing, protection, harmonics, grounding, thermal management, lightning protection, EMC.
- Expert knowledge of transformers, switchgear, cables, circuit breakers, protection systems, busbar systems.
- Experience with electrical CAD and calculation software (WSCAD, EPLAN, SEE Electrical).
- Electrical design for hazardous areas per US & CA standards.
- Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, CSA, UL panel certification; IEC standards knowledge is a plus.
- Proactive, curious, technically savvy, rigorous, team player.
Qualifications
- Senior Electrical Engineer with experience in the North American market.
- Electrical engineering degree.
- At least 6 years of experience in electrical design focused on low voltage and drafting in North America.
- Experience with UL508, UL508A, NFPA79, NFPA 70, CSA, IEC, IEEE standards.
- Good command of electrical design software (ePlan P8, WSCAD, SEE Electrical, E3.Series, Electra E8).
- Experience with projects for hazardous locations in North America.
- Basic understanding of P&IDs and MV distribution systems.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PPT.
- Good communication skills in English; proactive ownership of duties; experience in international engineering teams.
