Databricks Developer
Location: Toronto, ON, Canada (Hybrid)
Job Summary
The Databricks Developer will design, build, and optimize scalable data engineering solutions on the Azure cloud platform. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and modern data architectures such as lakehouse and data mesh. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performing data pipelines that support analytics and business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
- Develop and optimize data processing workflows using Python, PySpark, and T-SQL.
- Implement and manage data storage solutions using Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) and Delta Lake.
- Work with Azure Synapse Analytics (Serverless, Dedicated, and Spark pools) to support analytics workloads.
- Apply data modeling techniques including SCD, data marts, lakehouse architecture, and data mesh.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, and DevOps best practices.
- Support and troubleshoot data pipelines and Azure infrastructure issues in production.
- Implement and manage Azure infrastructure and networking using Terraform.
- Ensure data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- 5+ years of data engineering experience with at least 2 years working on Azure-based data platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, ADLS, Synapse, Python, PySpark, and T-SQL.
- Strong understanding of Azure infrastructure, security (RBAC, Azure AD), and networking concepts.
- Proficiency with Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, Delta Lake, lakehouse, and data mesh architectures.
- Understanding of data governance, privacy, and compliance best practices.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is CAD $100,000 – $130,000, depending on experience, skills, and location. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses under applicable compensation plans.
