A healthcare organization in Canada is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory. Responsibilities include procurement, handling, and testing of specimens. The ideal candidate will have completed an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program and possess phlebotomy experience. This position involves rotating shifts and requires reliable personal transportation.
You are organized, adaptable, and can work effectively under pressure. Able to prioritize tasks and manage your time, you have technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills necessary in medical laboratories today. You are comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you can develop and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues and other healthcare professionals you may interact with. You have good judgement and decision-making skills and will conduct yourself according to the Alberta Health Services Code of Conduct and the APL Values of Kindness, Inclusion, Innovation, Agility, and Accuracy. Access to reliable personal transportation is required as some of the possible work sites do not have access to public transportation. This position works rotating shifts between the hours of 0700-1615, Monday to Friday at College Plaza PSC and Riverbend Square PSC and every third Saturday and Sunday from 0700-1530 at Heritage PSC
Description:As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.
Preferred Qualifications:At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience. ECG experience.
