The Senior L&D Design and Development Oversight role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative, and blended learning solutions. It involves collaborating with stakeholders (vendors, Learning Solution Architects, Program Managers, Business SMEs) to support business strategic priorities, enable people strategies, and impact key business measures through effective learning projects.

The Senior L&D Design and Development Oversight role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, innovative, and blended learning solutions. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including Vendor Partners, Learning Solution Architects, Program Managers, and Business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The primary goal is to support business strategic priorities, enable people strategies, and impact key business measures through effective learning projects.

Summary of Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Provide oversight on the design and development of learning programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and leveraging common content and learning structures.

Act as a Subject Matter Expert in instructional design, offering expertise in various delivery methods such as virtual classrooms, eLearning, webinars, and in-class workshops.

Collaborate with vendors to ensure the delivery of effective and innovative learning solutions, providing feedback on the most effective blend of learning activities.

Maintain best practices in design and stay current with industry trends and performance consulting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take a North American perspective and organizational approach to design, development, and performance consulting. Ensure common content and learning structures are leveraged consistently.
  • Provide oversight expertise on the overall design of learning and development programs, including instructional frameworks, content mapping, prototypes or drafts, narrative scripts, and storyboards in various delivery methods.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of business, HR, and talent management objectives to enable vendors on a blended development approach via development, delivery, and maintenance of a wide variety of learning and development solutions, programs, and tools.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert with practical and technical expertise in all learning approaches. Provide deep subject matter expertise in design, including knowledge of external best practices, emerging trends, and vendors.
  • Participate in and contribute to the scoping of projects and planning alongside the vendor, ensuring learner experience and objectives are met in the proposed solutions.
  • Perform vendor design oversight and successfully deliver on multiple concurrent projects of varying complexity and modalities.
  • Act as a Lead Designer, providing design oversight on vended learning solutions while ensuring alignment to brand, learner accessibility, and principles of diversity and inclusion.
  • Continuously enhance knowledge and expertise to keep current with industry trends and participate in knowledge transfer within the team.
  • Interact adeptly with diverse groups of internal and external partners at all levels.
  • Identify and endorse existing and new performance support requirements to ensure learning recommendations and interventions are sustainable after the event.
Qualifications / Skills / Experience
  • 8+ years of experience as an instructional designer
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design and the application of adult learning principles for various accessible delivery methodologies.
  • Skills developing eLearning using the Articulate 360 suite of products
  • Nice to have skills developing videos using a variety of products (Vyond, etc.)
  • Advanced MS Office (PowerPoint & Word) experience
  • Instructional Design and Development experience supporting the financial industry on complex, fast-paced projects
  • Familiarity with the use of JAWS and practice WCAG guidelines
  • Demonstrated global and organizational awareness, change management leadership, judgment and decision‑making, influence, and operational excellence.
  • Subject‑matter expertise in needs analysis, instructional design/development, and program evaluation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and adult learning principles.
  • Proven track record of delivering results and commitment to operational and service excellence.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities accurately and successfully.
  • Highly developed critical thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
