Overview

Kindergarten Class Teacher — Temporary, Full-time 1.0 FTE (2025/26 School Year)

Okanagan Waldorf School (OWS) is seeking a Waldorf Kindergarten Class Teacher to join our established program. As a Waldorf Kindergarten teacher, you will teach by example, inviting students to learn through imitation and meaningful work. The position emphasizes fostering free play, developing fine and gross motor skills through music, singing, games, outdoor education, and intentional movement; and nurturing respect for self, others, and the world. This position is open until filled.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, deliver, assess, and report on the BC and Waldorf curricula.
  • Attend all faculty, department, and committee meetings; participate in planning and implementing festivals.
  • Develop and hold class and parent meetings; engage in school-wide policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management, apply knowledge of early childhood development, and build professional relationships with parents, faculty, and staff.
  • Promote outdoor programming and collaboration within the school day; support the school’s cooperative work.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years minimum of previous class teaching in a Waldorf Kindergarten program.
  • Waldorf Teaching certificate or certification under the BC Teachers Regulation Branch.
  • Willingness to work daily in a rural forest and farm setting, including walking on uneven terrain.
  • Completion of, or enrollment in, an AWSNA/WECAN approved Waldorf Early Childhood Educator Training program.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Preferred
  • Current First Aid or willingness to obtain.
Salary

$50,057 to $65,343/year prorated to FTE based on experience and credentials.
