Overview

Junior Purchasing Analyst (Temporary Position, October 2025 – November 2026). Exempt Level 5. Salary: $73,328 - $92,977.

Under the direction of the Purchasing Services Manager, the Junior Purchasing Analyst will assist the Senior Purchasing Analyst to prepare, coordinate, and execute procurement activities for the Board in accordance with the Board’s purchasing policies, guidelines and procedures. In addition, the Junior Purchasing Analyst will be responsible for contract management and supporting schools with their daily purchasing needs to improve efficiencies and identify cost saving opportunities.

Major Responsibilities
  • Serving as the designated customer service resource within the department by assisting schools with day-to-day procurement inquiries, processing orders, and helping them source best-value products and services.
  • Conducting competitive bid processes in collaboration with Business Department leads, including preparing and issuing bid documents, facilitating the evaluation of submissions, and awarding contracts in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Setting up and maintaining consumable-related contracts and material lists in the Board’s financial system in alignment with contract terms.
  • Tracking bids and contracts in the Board’s electronic tendering system and proactively engaging Business Department leads in advance of contract expiries.
  • Providing administrative and analytical support for high-profile procurement projects and other departmental initiatives as needed.
  • Maintaining and updating vendor insurance certificates and the Board-approved list of pre-qualified vendors.
Qualifications And Experience
  • College diploma in a related field (e.g. Business Administration, Accounting, Supply Chain or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years related work experience which would include sourcing and contracting in School Board or Broader Public Sector.
  • Attainment of or working towards the completion of the Ontario Public Buyers Association (OPBA) Public Purchasing Certificate Program or provincial procurement certificate program or supply chain management program.
Skills And Competencies
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of public procurement and contract administration; knowledge of trade agreements (CFTA and CETA) and other related legislation.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong customer service and problem solving skills.
  • Sound research, analytical, problem-solving and negotiating skills.
  • Advanced computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office and knowledge of SAP and eProcurement tools (e.g. Bids & Tenders).
  • Knowledge and understanding of School Board operations an asset.
