STEM Innovation Academy's Northwest Junior High seeks an exceptional Administrative Assistant to make a meaningful impact supporting Grades 7–9 operations. You'll handle clerical duties, partnering with staff, students, and families while upholding high standards and strong relationships. Reporting to the principal, this role keeps our STEM-focused campus running smoothly if you're passionate about education where your work matters.

STEM Innovation Academy is a public charter school in Calgary serving Grades 7–12. Our Northwest Junior High campus, located in Calgary's University Innovation Quarter, serves 315 students in Grades 7-9 and continues to grow as one of Alberta's most in-demand STEM programs.

Position Information
  • Hours of work: 35 hours/week, 10-month employee
  • Anticipated Start Date: March 2, 2026 (Please note that an alternate start date may be considered for a suitable candidate)
Responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming environment for all students, staff, and visitors to the main office.
  • Positively interact with and assist students, staff, and parents.
  • Answer telephones and supply information to callers.
  • Communicate with parents concerning student absenteeism, check‑outs, or early dismissals.
  • Understand PowerSchool operations; use PowerSchool to enter attendance and run reports.
  • Maintain office supplies; place orders and receive deliveries.
  • Work with vendors to maintain photocopiers and other equipment.
  • Assist with organizing guest teachers.
  • Organize and distribute locks/lockers/locker contracts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by administration (overseeing communal areas within the school, supporting staff functions, maintaining inventory, laptop sign‑out, lamination, appointment booking for counsellors and administrators, etc.).
  • Coordinate and support transportation, including supporting questions and issues related to transportation routes.
Education and Experience
  • High school completion.
  • Experience in a school office environment is an asset.
  • Minimum one-year related experience in an office environment or completion of a recognized post-secondary certificate or diploma in office administration or its equivalent with successful practicum experience.
