Job summary

A Canadian construction contractor is looking for an experienced Ironworker Foreman to lead crews at the Kearl Oil Sands project in Alberta. The successful candidate will manage daily operations, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and contribute to a safety-first environment. Ideal candidates must have a Journeyperson Ironworker Certification and 5-8 years of relevant experience. The Role

We are currently recruiting for experienced Ironworker Foreman to join our team at Kearl Oil Sands, a major oil sands site in Northern Alberta. The successful candidate will work in a safety‑first environment on a 14/14 rotation. Camp accommodations and meals provided. Charter flights provided from designated hubs in Edmonton and Calgary with flight allowances based on the province located.

This project is 6 months in duration and will be starting mid‑February.

Compensation / Benefits
  • CLAC hourly wages

  • OT at 1.5 after 8 hours per day
Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coordinate and direct ironworker crews on modular, structural steel, rebar and miscellaneous metal structures assembly, installation and connection
  • Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and ensure productivity targets and schedules are met
  • Read and interpret structural drawings, specifications and erection plans
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety regulations, company policies and site‑specific procedures
  • Lead and enforce safety meetings, hazard assessments and toolbox talks
  • Ensure proper use, care and maintenance of tools, rigging and lifting equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills / Education / Qualifications
  • Journeyperson Ironworker Certification (Red Seal Preferred)
  • Minimum 5‑8 years of experience as an ironworker, including supervisory or lead‑hand experience
  • Proven experience supervising crews on industrial or infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of applicable safety regulations and industry standards
  • Experience with multiplate assembly is preferred and considered an asset.
  • Effective communication and coordination with crews, supervisors and other trades
  • Proficient in best rigging practices, modules, equipment and structures hoisting, and critical crane lifting operations
  • Must have valid safety tickets: OSSA, CSTS‑2020, Fall Protection, WHMIS 2015, elevated work platform EWP
  • Ensure a safe team environment
  • Adhere to all company and worksite safety and quality processes and procedures.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills
  • Desire to work in a team environment
  • Basic computer skills is an asset
  • Comfortable working outside in various weather conditions
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must complete a criminal background check
