Position Overview
Sagard Wealth is seeking an Investment Analyst to join their investment team, focusing on building a premier investment management offering for successful families across Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth analysis of investment opportunities across various asset classes, including equities, fixed income, and alternative investments.
- Participate in manager selection processes, including screening potential managers, conducting due diligence meetings, and analyzing historical performance data.
- Prepare investment memos and presentations for the investment committee, summarizing key findings and recommendations.
- Monitor existing investments and external managers, preparing regular performance attribution reports and identifying any areas of concern.
- Contribute to the firm's asset allocation strategy by researching macroeconomic trends and their potential impact on different asset classes.
- Assist in preparing client-facing materials to explain investment strategies and performance.
- Contribute to the prototyping and development of analytics and other tools to enhance the team’s ability to implement and scale the use of new and innovative strategies.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Finance or a related discipline preferred; work experience and professional designations (such as CFA) may also be considered.
- 1-3 years of direct work experience in investment research and portfolio management at large institutional-quality asset management firms.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex investment opportunities and strategies across various asset classes.
- Technologically savvy with advanced-level skills in data manipulation and processing, including advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly articulate complex investment concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in both English and French (written and verbal) is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated interest in financial markets and a passion for investment research.
- Self-starter who balances initiative with teamwork.
- Resourceful, agile, and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Positive, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and confident personality with strong problem-solving skills.
