Role Overview

Yabu Pushelberg is an award-winning multidisciplinary design studio with offices in Toronto and New York. We design interiors, architecture, furniture, lighting, textiles, and branding for leading luxury hospitality, retail, and residential clients. Storytelling is central to our work, with our product design practice shaping narratives through material exploration, sculptural form, and emotional function.

We are seeking a sharp, skilled, and curious Industrial Designer to lead the development of furniture and product designs for custom interiors and global product partnerships. You will guide projects from concept through production, collaborate across disciplines, and mentor junior designers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the creation of original design concepts through sketching, 3D modeling, rendering, and material studies.
  • Collaborate with product design, interiors, and project management teams to realize the design vision.
  • Develop bespoke furniture and product collaborations with global brands.
  • Create and review detailed technical drawings to support fabrication and production.
  • Conduct trend research, material exploration, and narrative development to inform concepts.
  • Coordinate prototyping, sample reviews, and factory visits; attend international design fairs.
  • Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, iterative studio environment.
  • Explore emerging design technologies, including AI tools, to enhance the creative process.
  • Uphold Yabu Pushelberg’s design standards for excellence and consistency.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Industrial, Furniture, or related design field.
  • 3+ years (Intermediate) / 5+ years (Senior) experience in industrial or furniture design, including internships.
  • Strong sketching, visualization, and 3D modeling skills (SolidWorks or Rhino; KeyShot, V-Ray, or equivalent). Blender an asset.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite with strong presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, production processes and sustainable design principles; hands-on fabrication experience an asset.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple design languages and project types.
  • Collaborative mindset and openness to feedback.
  • Experience in luxury hospitality, residential, or retail environments preferred.
  • Global perspective and interest in cultural and material storytelling.
