Job description
  • Plan, establish priorities, and aid in project tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate project team members and complete assigned tasks within allocated time.
  • Create and manage the assigned work package within the overall project plan, including all components, documents, and reports.
  • Develop project schedules considering the project objectives, responsibilities, accountabilities, timelines, and resource availability.
  • Identify inherent and developing project risks and issues.
  • Make recommendations to mitigate identified risks and escalate risks as they become issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to manage expectations.
  • Help to develop and implement performance metrics to measure project success.
  • Promote Public Sector I&IT project management best practices, resource management standards, and adhere to standard methodologies.
  • Adhere to Public Sector I&IT standards and best practices for project management to facilitate control of system quality; adhere to standard methodology and the control of the use of I&IT resources.
  • Participate in steering committee and stakeholder forums.
  • Provide project reporting to multi-stakeholders at senior executive levels.
  • Proactively identify risks and issues pertaining to the assigned work package, report them to the overall Project Champions and the Portfolio Team.
  • Identify and mitigate strategies and responses to the issues and risks.
  • Ensure the development and delivery of business cases where applicable (i.e. management board submissions) to seek approval for long-term support & maintenance contracts with Ministry vendors.
  • Coordinate project plans with Public Safety Operations.
  • Have experience working on the PSRN project.

Project Management and Coordination Skills : 40%

  • 5+ years of experience with Project Management.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard such as Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management methodologies, producing documentation, collaterals, and artefacts.
  • Demonstrated experience with project and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Strong MS Project and SharePoint knowledge.
  • Demonstrated IT project management experience managing all phases (concept, definition, planning, implementation, and closeout) of large scale, complex IT projects.
  • Effectively manages large project budgets and ensures a high level of fiscal control and accountability including estimates, forecasts, and reconciliation / confirmation of actuals.
  • Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Content Management.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and developing requirements for project charters, and integrated project plans.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and evaluating specific issues or risks, providing options analysis, and recommending action plans to mitigate the risks.
  • Experience in PSRN project.

Analytic and Communication Skills : 30%

  • Demonstrated experience working with a large project team.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and distributing project updates, progress reports to project stakeholders while managing expectations pertaining to scope and timeline constraints.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and acquiring a mix of skilled technical resources necessary to complete project assignments / deliverables; including clarifying roles and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating across many functional areas to actively engage project stakeholders and manage client expectations with diverse interests, technical and non-technical backgrounds using the appropriate level of political acuity and messaging for the audience.
  • Written communication skills to prepare authoritative recommendations, proposals, and reports; such as Briefing Notes and executive presentations.
  • A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines.
  • Strong discipline in resolving resourcing and interpersonal conflicts, ensures knowledge is shared among team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading presentations for senior management, stakeholders, and teams.
  • Demonstrated experience to act independently and make decisions that achieve optimal results with minimal supervision.

Technical Experience : 15%

  • Demonstrated experience with back end technology of radio and paging systems.
  • Demonstrated experience on leading a project from market scanning, procurement, planning, implementation to completion.

Industry Experience : 15%

  • Experience with the land ambulance sector and its stakeholders would be an asset.
