Job summary

A leading engineering and consulting firm in Canada is seeking an experienced Intermediate Process Engineer to join our team based in Vancouver, BC. This role involves executing various process engineering tasks, collaborating with project teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of client projects. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and 4-8 years of relevant design experience in Heavy Industry. Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of design experience in Heavy Industry is required.
  • Good understanding of applicable industry codes and standard practices.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Execute process tasks while accountable for budget and schedule.
  • Work with Project Managers on proposals, estimating budgets.
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Processing and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Facilitate process hazards analysis studies.
  • Conduct activities in line with legislation and industry standards.

Tetra Tech is adding an Intermediate Process Engineer to our Process team based in Vancouver, BC .

The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 per annum. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Your Role
  • Executing process tasks while being accountable for budget and schedule.
  • Working with Project Managers on proposals or change notices by estimating budgets for process related deliverables.
  • Working with clients and project team to scope out projects, establish project objectives and coordinate and/or resolve design issues.
  • Developing Process Design Basis (PDB).
  • Performing computer simulations using HYSYS, Pipe Flo or other stimulation software to perform pipe/pipeline and equipment sizing.
  • Developing Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and work with Mechanical/Instrumentation to develop Processing and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Populating Process Information for equipment datasheets and develop PSV files.
  • Interfacing with other disciplines, clients, and vendors.
  • Facilitating and/or participating in process hazards analysis studies/sessions.
  • Comfortable as a process lead for a project, responsible for leading all process related deliverables, including attending internal and external project meetings as required.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
  • Registered P.Eng. or eligible for P.Eng with EGBC.
  • 4‑8 years of design experience in the Heavy Industry (upstream, crude refining, product metering (MARP or LACT), gas processing and oil sands) with either an EPC or operating company is required.
  • Good understanding of applicable industry codes and standard practices.
  • Proficiency with HYSYS and/or Pipe‑Flo software (or similar).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced work environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive client and project team relationships.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
