Overview

Description: The University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for the Intercultural Education Program Coordinator in the Office of Student Experience and Wellbeing, Student Life & International Student Centre. This role supports the enrichment of co-curricular life on campus by developing intercultural and interfaith programming that fosters student development, inclusivity, and critical engagement with culture and identity. The position aligns with the university’s commitment to equity, diversity, and excellence and involves collaboration with campus partners across multiple divisions.

Your opportunity: Under the general direction of the Director, Student Engagement and Campus Life, you will contribute to the co-curricular life of the campus through intercultural programming that develops critical intercultural and interfaith skills among UTSC students.

Your responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities.
  • Develop and implement an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives.
  • Promote experiential learning opportunities and facilitate educational workshops and seminars.
  • Advise students on co-curricular, academic, and personal matters with consideration of individual circumstances and backgrounds.
  • Recruit and train work-study students; foster outreach to students and partnerships with campus stakeholders.
  • Conceptualize, organize, and execute events that celebrate cultural diversity and encourage critical reflection on identity and culture.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years of related experience in student development at the post-secondary level in intercultural and interfaith settings.
  • Experience in program management, event planning, and coordination; strong background in student life issues within a diverse environment.
  • Experience delivering intercultural training and awareness programs; ability to work with diverse communities and understand international and transition student issues.
  • Ability to build partnerships with multiple stakeholders and operate from an anti-oppressive and equity framework.
  • Strong knowledge of international education issues and trends; excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to relate to students and implement programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and work independently and in a team; occasional evenings and weekends required.
