JOB SUMMARY

The mandate of Community Recreation & Cultural Programs is to build an inclusive, vibrant, and creative city, unique in identity, and rich in culture. The Service provides strategic vision and innovative leadership in managing customer centric sports and recreation venues and programs, including the management of facilities and/or land for the delivery of indoor and outdoor recreation programs and services, and fosters an environment in which Ottawa’s arts, heritage, festival and event sectors can evolve sustainably.

You are responsible for teaching and evaluating creative children’s introductory to intermediate instructional programs in theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, and multi-media arts.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 2 years of university/college in Fine Arts or Art History, and/or Education in one or more of the following arts disciplines: theatre, dance, music, visual, literary, or multi-media arts or equivalent years of arts experience

Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing and/or teaching in a related arts discipline.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates

AODA Customer Service/IASR Training

High Five training courses

KNOWLEDGE
  • Completion of health and safety training required by legislation and by the Corporation of Ottawa
  • Previous experience working with all ages in an arts instructional setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of interpretive techniques, of aesthetic and technical concepts, and of handling of program materials in discipline of instruction.
  • Working knowledge of general registration and visitor procedures.
  • Working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation and of corporate/ departmental policies and procedures related to health and safety.

  • Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
