Position overview

The Industrial Painter is a skilled tradesperson responsible for applying paints and other protective or decorative coatings to industrial parts, structures, machinery, or equipment, in compliance with quality standards, safety requirements, and technical specifications. The role involves surface preparation, material selection, and the use of appropriate techniques and equipment to ensure a durable, high-quality finish.

Key Responsibilities

Surface Preparation

  • Read and interpret instructions, drawings, and production work orders prior to starting work.
  • Clean surfaces (degreasing, sandblasting, sanding, stripping, corrosion removal) to ensure proper paint adhesion.
  • Mask or protect areas that must not be painted.

Coating Application

  • Prepare and mix paints according to specifications (paint sheets).
  • Apply paint coatings using spray guns, sprayers, and automated equipment.
  • Follow technical specifications to prevent defects (runs, uneven coats, etc.).
  • Perform touch-ups and finishing work to ensure aesthetic and technical quality.

Inspection & Maintenance

  • Inspect paint application to ensure compliance with standards and final product quality.
  • Complete the “Baptistère” and other required documentation as needed.
  • Clean and maintain painting and protective equipment (spray guns, booths, filters, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, follow safety rules, and properly handle hazardous products and waste.

Additional Responsibilities & Safety

  • Strictly comply with all safety requirements.
  • Report any irregularities or technical issues to the supervisor.
  • Follow safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of chemical products.
  • Communicate with supervisors to organize work or report issues.
  • Occasionally assist with logistics or coordination on more complex projects.
Profile & Experience Required
  • Experience in industrial painting and sandblasting is an asset but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of sandblasting and metal painting techniques is an asset.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety and industrial quality standards.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a professional attitude.
  • Willingness to work days and weekends.
  • Must reside in Canada and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
