Overview

The Magnum Ice Cream Company is seeking an Ice Cream Automation and Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and supervise electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery with a focus on safety. Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software. Supports production-line concerns, continuous improvement projects, and kaizen activities as a leader and team member. Ensures safety objectives and legal requirements are observed. Participates in controls and electrical upgrades; supervises the controls team, manages PTO requests, approves timecards, and schedules projects. Leads and maintains the electrical program as the site technical authority (TA3).

The Automation and Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the above, with cross-functional collaboration across departments to identify opportunities for savings and equipment performance improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, motor controls and IT needs.
  • Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budget.
  • Electrical and software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems. Able to maintain project scope and identify project creep.
  • Support manufacture, build and validation of systems which include pneumatics, servos, variable frequency drives, relays, communication networks, HMI touchscreens, and more.
  • Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Architect programs that are simple to test, well documented and versatile.
  • Manage controls team activities.
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of controls related losses in the site.
  • Provide technical assistance and input into reliability of factory systems and networks.
  • Site Communications Management.
  • Leads the development of the plant masterplan for electrical and networks systems.
  • Site Automation Support.
