Job description

Our client located in Simcoe Ontario, has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Specialist.

This position is entry level as our salary range for our specialists is 55,000 - 60,000. The ideal candidate would need to have HR schooling and some experience. Someone who has disability management experience would be a definite asset.

Responsibilities:

  1. Act as a resource for team members and leadership on employee relation issues.
  2. Conduct workplace fact-finding meetings and investigations (including workplace violence and harassment) in a timely, discrete, and professional manner.
  3. Draft and edit reports, recommend resolutions, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  4. Ensure all matters are fully researched, responses are prepared and issued within prescribed timelines.
  5. Mediate/conflict resolution to employee/employer issues and facilitate mutually agreeable outcomes.
  6. Provide coaching, consultation, and advice to leadership on interpreting policies and procedures.
  7. Support and administer disciplinary processes as it relates to attendance and performance.
  8. Monitor and support the accommodation process as it relates to ESA and Human Rights.
  9. Research and provide guidance related to compliance with updates to Employee Standard Act, Canada Labour Code, and Human Rights.
  10. All other relevant duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  2. Sound interpersonal skills including communication, organization, negotiation, and professional judgement.
  3. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  4. Excellent communication skills to actively listen and discern nonverbal communication cues and to deliver information professionally in difficult circumstances.
  5. Ability to perceive and understand the emotions of others and interact appropriately based on those emotions.
  6. Workplace Investigation Training an asset.
  7. Proven ability to think systematically and strategically.
  8. Effective leadership attributes to motivate and develop relationships.
  9. Strong ability to function independently and as a member of a team dealing with multiple priorities in a complex environment.

Education/Experience Desired:

  1. University degree, diploma, or graduate certificate in related field (Human Resources, Human Resource Management or Labour Relations). CHRP designation is an asset.
  2. Minimum of three years of demonstrated work experience, preferably in areas of Labour relations, conflict resolution, and HR processes and policies.
  3. Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
