Overview

CDN is a recognized industry leader in the energy services sector. CDN is a full-service provider with expertise in Electrical & Instrumentation maintenance, renewables/solar, major projects, combustion & emissions reduction, and measurement. We are looking to hire an HSE Advisor, Program Development based out of our Downtown Calgary office and/or our Grande Prairie branch.

The HSE Advisor, Program Development is responsible for facilitating the development, implementation, and maintenance of CDN’s Health and Safety policies and programs. This position works closely with all levels of management and employees to ensure consistent promotion and utilization of safe work practices. The HSE Advisor, Program Development must advise on safety standards, regulations, and legislative compliance and make recommendations to improve the operational efficiency of the HSE department. Further, the HSE Advisor, Program Development will work in conjunction with the Manager, HSE – Program Development on the implementation, communication, and execution of new or updated programs across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, develop, implement, and evaluate health & safety policies and programs.
  • Design safety standards to conform to industry standards and federal, provincial and local regulations.
  • Update the Health & Safety Management System in relation to updated legislation.
  • Provide advice and counsel to management and other employee groups on a broad range of occupational safety issues and decisions.
  • Provide guidance to field personnel via safety briefings.
  • Direct and review the analysis of accident and injury data, identifying the needs for new or modified occupational safety programs.
  • Work in conjunction with leadership on the development, implementation and management of the Health and Safety Management System.
  • Provide program training to HSE team and management teams to ensure the acceptance and compliance of health and safety policies and procedures are understood and are integrated throughout the organization.
  • Suggest improvements in tracking and reporting of metrics.
  • Produce and communicate health and safety reports on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Related post-secondary degree or diploma and typically 3-5 years of related HSE experience, or combination of formal education and experience
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is required
  • Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is preferred
  • Valid class 5 license with a clean drivers abstract
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and safety best practices
  • Understanding of current Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Bulletins and other safe work practice requirements and recommendations.
  • Attentive to detail and demonstrated organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize projects and daily tasks
  • Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Suite and Power Apps.
